"Blue-collar highway shouts about rock'n'roll as a job to get done ("Takin' Care of Business")-from Canadian lumberjacks fed on back bacon and beer, boasting hooks as hardy as their physiques."

Interview from Modern Guitar Magazine
by Rick Landers
Before Randy Bachman's show at the Birchmere in Alexandria, Virginia, this past summer, Modern Guitars dropped by backstage for a brief chat. Randy and crew were relaxed and easy going giving me an opportunity to ask him a few questions about his guitars and music, as well as Vinyl Tap, his coast-to-coast radio program that's broadcast across his native Canada. Resting next to a wall was Bachman's gold top Gibson Les Paul, his axe of choice and one that he said nailed the Guess Who sound, better than any other guitar he'd played for years. The LP's a sub-eight pounder that he can play night after night without irritating the rotator cuff that he had repaired in 2007. But, it was clear that Randy loved the guitar and its gritty crunch...Read

Thanks for turning on the tap!
Randy loves doing his weekly radio show Vinyl Tap and it seems audiences are loving it too! A recent CBC Radio report cited his show for "unprecedented growth." The Vinyl Tap audience is growing as listeners tune in to both the CBC Radio One and Sirius Satellite Radio to listen. Congrats to Randy, his wife Denise, and producer Tod Elvidge for bringing us such great shows... now over 125 weeks on air.
"For years as I've traveled the world, I've bought all kinds of great music only to get home and play it a few times and then move on to the next trip and gathering more. Now I know why I did it in the first place -- I was preparing to do Randy's Vinyl Tap Radio! Now to troll through my archives of vinyl, tapes and CD's and play some of this music for the Vinyl Tap audience is so rewarding. It's become a very integral part of my life to appear in living rooms, kitchens, cottages and all kinds of vehicles every Saturday night and share these musical moments.
I appreciate all the real mail and emails (which Denise replies to) and all the show ideas that people send in. I enjoy finding the themes or glue that holds these tunes together and forms the framework for each show. Most of the music is important to me as I know the artist, the songwriter, the producer or something about it from my personal experience. I love sharing these stories. Denise keeps it all accurate by pinpointing dates, times, names and facts for me so I don't put my foot in my mouth too often.
It is a complete surprise to me that this summer replacement show has become a fixture in my life and in the life of so many fans and listeners.
I think this can go on and on. What do you think?"
